NEW NFACC CONVERSATIONS PODCAST EPISODE RELEASED

Episode five of the NFACC Conversations podcast is now available. This episode, “A Seat at the Code Committee Table: Insights from the Sheep Code Update,” will take a closer look at the current sheep Code update, as well as unpack the impact and value of Canada’s Codes of Practice.

In this episode, we are joined by Fred Baker and Dr. Charlotte Winder. Fred is an Ontario sheep producer and represents the Canadian Sheep Federation as Chair of the Sheep Code Committee. Charlotte is a veterinarian, researcher, and faculty member at the Ontario Veterinary College, Department of Veterinary Medicine. She is the Chair of the sheep Code Scientific Committee and as such is also a sheep Code Committee member.

INPUT MATTERS - EVERY CODE INVITES CANADIANS TO SHARE THEIR PERSPECTIVES

A crucial part of the Code process is the Public Comment Period; a sixty-day opportunity for anyone and everyone to review the work that has been done thus far by a Code Committee and offer their comments on the draft content.

Two of the most important questions asked about the Public Comment Period are: Is my viewpoint heard? And do I have an influence? 

The answer is an emphatic “Yes”!

Comments are encouraged from anyone who wishes to add their voice to the discussion and have their viewpoints considered in the Code development process. This supports a robust process and helps Codes achieve an effective balance that reflects multi-stakeholder interests and priorities for advancing farm animal welfare.
